DIETRO LA FOTO - Alberto

3 March 2023

February 2023

"Only those who live in Venice can understand this feeling, a sort of umbilical cord with the city."

Alberto's gaze was captured by Greek-French photographer Nikos Aliagas during an art residence in Venice in 2022. Nikos' lens traveled through the extraordinary everyday life of Venice, letting photography tell the stories of those who live and make these places come alive.

Alberto is a barber as was his father and before him his grandfather. The almost 100-year-old Barberia Amato, founded in 1924, is the oldest salon in the city, and for three generations a meeting point, a piazza, in the heart of San Polo. With gestures of the past, Alberto continues the family tradition, always accompanied by his dachshund Lucy.

The photography exhibition Nikos Aliagas. Regards Vénitiens is open to the public in the ground floor spaces of Palazzo Vendramin Grimani, home of Fondazione dell'Albero d'Oro, until 26 November, 2023.
